happyconf.net - Gilles Vauvarin ("I", "my", "me") operates the website https://happyconf.net (the "Site"). This policy explains what personal data I collect, why, and what your rights are regarding it.

My business is based in Canada and I strive to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), as well as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for my visitors and customers located in the European Union.

1. What data do I collect?

Depending on how you use the Site, I may collect:

  • Inquiry form: first and last name, email address, your organization's name, billing address, your event's name, your event's end date, and any message or information you voluntarily provide.
  • Purchases and payments: when you make a purchase, your payment information is processed directly by the providers (Stripe and/or PayPal). I never store your full credit card numbers on my servers.
  • Browsing data: via analytics tools (Umami), I collect anonymized technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and duration of visit, generally through cookies (see section 4).

2. Why I use this data

I use your personal data to:

  • Process your orders and deliver the products purchased;
  • Respond to your questions via the contact form;
  • Improve our Site through visitor statistics;
  • Send you marketing communications, if you have consented to this;
  • Comply with our legal and accounting obligations.

3. Sharing data with third parties

I never sell your personal data. I only share it with:

  • Stripe / PayPal for secure payment processing;
  • Umami for visitor statistics;
  • Brevo, for email communications, if applicable.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and applies its own security measures.

4. Cookies

My Site uses cookies to ensure it functions properly (e.g. managing login sessions) and to measure its audience. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features of the Site may then no longer work correctly.

5. Data retention

I retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as long as required by law (particularly for accounting and tax purposes).

6. International data transfers

Since my clientele is international, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including Canada and the United States (depending on the location of our providers such as Stripe, PayPal, or our analytics tools).

7. Your rights

If you reside in Canada, under PIPEDA, you have the right to know what data I hold about you, to access it, and to request its correction.

If you reside in the European Union, under the GDPR, you also have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your data;
  • Right to rectification;
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten");
  • Right to restriction of processing;
  • Right to data portability;
  • Right to object to processing, particularly for marketing purposes;
  • Right to withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at the address indicated in section 9.

8. Data security

I implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage over the Internet is 100% secure.
